Can we go back to nature?

Anja Wurm

Never ever since the beginning of human history have we had a more comfortable life than now. We live in large, heated apartments. We use motorized means of transport to get around. Our food supply seems unlimited, everything we need is available around the clock.

Despite these many advantages of today‘s society, we are living increasingly unhealthy lives. The population suffers most often from chronic noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer or depression.

In order to escape the stressful everyday life, we are increasingly looking for relaxation in nature. New trends such as forest bathing are emerging. In my work I investigate the history of mankind, why we settled down even though this meant a loss of quality of life (hard work in the field, mostly one-sided nutrition) and whether we can turn back the wheel of time. Can we go back to nature? How many resources do we really need? Would we then perhaps live healthier again?

In the last exhibition I asked the visitors about their lifestyle and consumer behavior. And I wanted to know how happy they are with their life.

In this blog/exhibition I answer the questions which I’ve asked the visitors at the last exhibition. The blog grows as I post a new picture every day of the exhibition.
